good-bye allergies
July 12th, 2006
According to Professor David Garrod, allergies in adults could be conquered within five years:
“The drugs we are developing – called Allergen Delivery Inhibitors (ADIs) – are designed to disable these allergens so they can no longer eat through the protective cell layer and block the allergic reaction before it occurs.
The effect will be like avoiding allergens altogether. Removing carpets and rigorous cleaning of homes are established ways to avoid allergens, but they are only partially effective because their effects do not ‘travel’ with allergy sufferers. “
I don’t suffer from allergies, but this is relieving news for my wife, father, and pretty much the rest of the world. So, rich people, give his research team some money–he needs $3 million (and don’t worry its the pharmacy business, I’m sure you’ll see a return on that investment), but only after you’ve given money to the AIDS epidemic. It’s a little more important.

President Clinton’s current work
July 11th, 2006

Not too long ago I watched CNN Presents “The End of AIDS” and was pleasantly surprised to see Dr. Sanjay Gupta interviewing President Clinton on his thoughts regarding his vision of a world without AIDS. After watching the airing I made my way to the Clinton Foundation’s website and learned a little more about the initiatives that Clinton is currently involved in, including the Clinton Global Initiative. Check out the site and donate to the cause or get involved in some other way–his site has a ton of links to other organizations that his foundation has partnered with.

I am excited about this screening tonight and all of the potential interaction with all of the organizations that will be present. So if you live in the valley and aren’t doing anything at 7pm tonight, I hope to see you at Pollack Tempe Cinemas when the sound rumbles and the lights go dim.

This is a powerful film about the HIV/AIDS epidemic that has stricken not only Africa, but the entire world. Read the invitation to our public screening at Getamission.com.
Perhaps, in the near future, I will explain how this screening came to light and how a collective of home groups formed to put this the showing on at Pollack Tempe Cinemas in Tempe, AZ, but for now I will merely ask you to view the trailer, visit Getamission.com and sign up for an email reminder on the day of, and then come to the screening on Thursday, March 30 @ 7:00pm. Starbucks coffee and theater popcorn will abound. As, undoubtedly, will tears and a sense of action.
